Ancistrochilus
rothschildianus
Ancistrochilus
rothschildianus is
an African orchid species from Guinea,
Sierra Leone and Uganda, where it grows as an epiphyte. This species
is
deciduous. The pseudobulbs are interestingly shaped like "Hershey
Kisses" chocolate candies. Flower stems arise from the base.
The plant should
be grown under warm, humid, and shady conditions, and should be
kept
moist at all times except for a short, dry, rest period as the
leaves begin to
die off, shortly after flowering.
